Lord Brett McLeans 10th Pier Walk Challenge will take place on Sunday 7th July 2013. Meet at Hastings Pier at around 10:15am, for a 10:30am start.
As usual, the sponsors raised on the walk will be in aid of a number of different charities. These are:
- S.A.R.A.H (Stroke Association Relatives And Helpers),
- Hastings Pensioners Association,
- Hastings Furniture Service,
- Limb Care,
- The Tony Barnard Foundation and Brownbread Horse Rescue.
After last years walk, we realise that many walkers would have preferred to have supported a charity of their choice. That's why we have decided that if you do wish to raise money for a charity of your own choice, you are more than welcome to do so but we ask that approximately 25% of your sponsors raised go to the charities listed above, on top of the £10 entry fee. Cheques made payable to LADYBIRD PHOTOGRAPHY (Official Sponsor).
This year, the 10th Pier Walk Challenge will be of a SUPERHERO theme!
That's right! We've got another theme! We want as many of you as possible all dressed up as superheroes! Feeling creative?? Why don't you make up your OWN superhero with a power of your choice?
A small prize will be on offer at the Presentation of Certificates (around 4 weeks following the walk) for the best dressed man and woman, best dressed child (under 16) and most creative custom hero!
Custom heroes must have a superhero name, a costume and at least one super power! Be as creative as you like, just keep it appropriate!

On The Day
For us at the Pier Walk Team, your safety and comfort is our main priority on the day but for us to ensure that, you need to do a few things too!
Firstly, comfortable footwear is essential! We advise that you wear walking shoes or comfortable trainers. High heels, sandals, flip flops, plimsolls/dolly shoes and shoes that rub or cause any kind of irritation are not recommended.
Those who have taken part before will know that the weather varies significantly each year. If it is sunny, remember to bring some sun cream! Sun glasses and a hat may also be beneficial. Also remember that at points along the route, it can get very windy so a long sleeved over-layer would be recommended as it can get a bit chilly, even on the sunniest of days.
As you would expect, if it is forecast for rain, please bring suitable clothing such as a rain coat or waterproof jacket.
Forms
Please find below links to download a PDF copy of all the relevant forms needed for this event. Please ensure that entry forms are handed in BEFORE the day of the event along with the £10 entry fee (Cheques made payable to LADYBIRD PHOTOGRAPHY). Forms given in on the day may delay the start of the walk. Please return your entry form and entrants fee to Lord Brett McLean, Event Organiser, 5, Seaside Road, St Leonards on sea, East Sussex, TN38 OAL.
Around 4 weeks after the walk has taken place, there will be a presentation of cheques and certificates at the Hastings Town Hall and Information Centre (invitations will be sent out after the event has taken place). Please make sure that sponsors and sponsor forms are handed in before this date.
Late submissions will mean that amount you raised will not be printed on your certificate and again, slows down admin processes.
